When I was fifteen, somebody invested in me as a player in a way I never forgot. That is why I coach. For 16-Black, I want every athlete to know she has a coach who will be honest with her, push her, and stay focused on what helps her improve next.
I love teaching team offense and setting. When the system clicks, athletes can stop overthinking and start playing volleyball with confidence. My practices are built for lots of contacts and real competition: we get high rep volume, and nearly everything is scored. Players will be challenged to make the next play matter.
I am direct with feedback, and I coach the next ball. A missed serve, a tough set, or a lost point is gone—we respond to what comes next. Families, I feel the same way about communication: I would much rather hear a concern in November than find out about it in February.
This is a competitive team, and playing time goes to the lineup that gives us the best chance to win. I will be clear about that standard while helping athletes understand what they can work on to earn opportunities. Last season, 7 of 10 athletes returned, and 5 made their high school varsity teams.
I started coaching club before I was done playing because volleyball has always meant that much to me. I played setter at the Division III, NAIA, or JUCO level, and I still make time for alumni and pickup games. I also coach in club volleyball, high school, private lessons, and camps and clinics. And yes, players will quickly learn how loud I get over a great dig.
I am USAV IMPACT certified, SafeSport trained, background screened, and CPR/AED certified. I also help athletes build and review highlight film.
