Reagan Allen

Before every tournament day, my teams make themed hair bows together. It’s a small tradition, but I love the way it gives the team something that feels like theirs before the first serve. I'm Reagan Allen and I've got 14-Black this year at CVA.

I coach because I want athletes to have a better experience than I had. For me, that means helping each player understand what she is working on, what she is doing well, and how to keep improving. I love the moment a hitter stops swinging hard and starts swinging smart—and I’m just as loud when someone lays out for a great dig.

My practices with 14-Black will be heavy on fundamentals and technical breakdowns. We’ll spend time on position-specific work, then bring those skills back into full-team reps. I played outside hitter and opposite through 18s club volleyball, and while I do not play competitively anymore, I can still demonstrate the skills I teach.

When an athlete makes a mistake, I ask what she saw. Most of the time, she already knows. That conversation helps us turn a missed ball or missed opportunity into something she can use on the next rep. Playing time is earned in practice, and I will be direct about exactly what an athlete can do to earn more of it.

I’m always available by email and will respond within a day. I’m happy to talk through questions with families, but I ask that we save playing-time conversations for a time other than the ten minutes right after a match.
